WRESTLING: Eagles top Union City

UNION CITY-The Youngsville Eagles took advantage of Union City forfeits in four weight classes en route to a 42-28 win over the Bears Friday at Union City High School.

The host Bears handed Youngsville 24 points, and the Eagles used wins from Austin Slocum, Tanner Burns, and Austin Spear to secure the win and improve to 5-5 in dual meets this season.

Slocum started the night for Youngsville with a pin over Union City’s Jarod Proper at heavyweight, Burns pinned Christian Fernandez at 132, and Spear earned a third-period pin over Brandon Kent in the 195-pound match.

Nate Lehman, Chester Ciukaj, Zach Ishman, and Stone Sivak received Youngsville’s wins by forfeit.

The Eagles will be in action at the Ripley Tournament on Saturday.
