JV hoops

Warren’s junior varsity boys basketball team took first place in the 2013 IAABO Holiday JV tournament with wins over Jamestown (N.Y.) in the first round and Olean (N.Y.) in the final. In the 60-40 win over Jamestown, Scott Vasilisin led with 13 points, Evan Suppa had 12, and Devin Nowacki and Ryan Skerda each added 11. Suppa and Vasilisin scored 12 each in the 59-52 win over Olean, Skerda added 11, and Sheldon McMeans had 10.

Wrestling rankings

A total of 11 county wrestlers were mentioned in the latest District 10 rankings by Ron Coleman and Dan Albaugh. Warren’s D.J. Fehlman and Alex Streich are currently ranked first in Class AAA at 132 and 220 pounds, respectively. Alex Weston (4th, 106), Garrett Smead (3rd, 160), Derek Reagle (3rd, 170), and Solomon Gross (3rd, 285) round out the rankings for the Dragons. Youngsville is represented in Class AA by Nathan Lehman (6th, 106), Jeremy Lyon (5th, 170), and Jaykup Durlin (4th, 285). For Eisenhower, Levi Stanko is sixth at 145 and Louie Head is fifth at 152.

Girls hoops

Any student wearing a Barnyard Classic t-shirt at Monday night’s girls basketball game between Youngsville and Eisenhower at Eisenhower High School will receive free admission into the event. The junior varsity game is set to begin at 6 p.m. with varsity to follow.
