GIRLS HOOPS: Lady Eagles win consy game

CORRY-The Youngsville Lady Eagles improved to 3-5 on the year with a 39-14 win over Corry in Monday night’s consolation game of Corry’s own Holiday Tournament.

“We played the best defense we’ve played all year,” said Youngsville coach Dave Becker. “The girls went after Corry right from the beginning. That was nice to see after coming out slow in a few of our games. We’re a work in progress, but to come out and give a solid effort was nice to see.”

The Lady Eagles held a 9-4 advantage after the first quarter, and pulled away from the host Beavers with a 14-0 second.

Kennedy and Karissa Cratty led the way offensively with 14 and 11 points, respectively. Katie Chuzie had a strong game at both ends of the floor with nine points and nine steals, and Karissa Cratty added eight rebounds.

After totalling 25 points in two games, Kennedy Cratty was named to the all-tournament team.

Youngsville will look for win number four on Friday, hosting Cambridge Springs.
