Celebrate the birth of Christ

North Warren Presbyterian Church, 200 S. State St., North Warren, will have a Christmas Eve candlelight and communion service at 7 p.m. Tuesday. The church invites everyone to make it a family tradition to join friends and neighbors for a celebration of Jesus’ birth as we worship together with carols, special music, and the telling of the timeless story of how God’s love was sent to earth to save this world. As part of the evening’s worship, participants will join together in sharing the Lord’s Supper and a candlelight rendition of “Silent Night.” Everyone is invited to celebrate the Savior’s Birth.

Covenant United Methodist Church, 1624 Pennsylvania Ave. E., Warren, will hold its annual candle lighting service at 10 p.m. on Dec. 24. All are welcome.

Praise Fellowship of Russell, 7451 Market St. (Rt. 6, Russell) will have a Christmas Eve service at 9 p.m. Tuesday. The pastors will teach on the Journey to Bethlehem with many special music presentations woven throughout the message. The service will conclude with a candle lighting service with some 400 candles.

Youngsville First United Methodist Church will have a Christmas Eve candlelight worship service at 7 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 24. The church is located at 225 E. Main St., Youngsville.

Youngsville Evangelical United Methodist Church will have a Christmas Eve candlelight worship service at 11 a.m. Tuesday. The church is located at 18 Second St., Youngsville.

Warren Wesleyan Church will have a Christmas Eve candlelight communion worship service at 9 p.m. Tuesday. The church is located at 602 Fourth Ave., Warren.

Cherry Grove Community Church will have a Christmas service and live Nativity in the pavilion next to the church beginning at 7 p.m. Tuesday. Refreshments will be served. The Christmas Eve candlelight service will follow at 8 p.m. All are welcome. “Join us for a time of fellowship while we celebrate our Savior’s Birth,” according to a church spokesperson. The church is located on Cherry Grove Road, seven miles up from Weldbank.

Sheffield United Methodist Church will have a Christmas Eve service at 7 p.m.

Barnes United Methodist Church will have a Christmas Eve service at 10 p.m.

Bethany Lutheran Church, 110 Church St., Sheffield, will celebrate Holy Communion with a candlelight service at 9 p.m. Christmas Eve. The Rev. David M. Blank will preach and preside at the festive service. There will be no services at Bethany on Sunday, Dec. 29, as members will attend the service of Lessons and Carols at First Lutheran Church, 109 W. Third Ave., Warren, at 10 a.m.

St. John’s Lutheran Church, 200 Pleasant Dr., Warren, will celebrate Holy Communion with a candlelight service at 9 p.m. on Christmas Eve. The Rev. Jeffrey B. Ewing will preach and preside at the festive service. St. John’s will have an 8:30 a.m. service of Holy Communion on Sunday, Dec. 29. Members are also invited to attend the special service of Lessons and Carols at First Lutheran Church, Warren, at 10 a.m.

First Lutheran Church, 109 W. Third Ave., Warren, will hold three services on Christmas Eve: a family candlelight service at 5 p.m.; a service of Holy Communion and candlelight at 7 p.m.; and a festive service of Holy Communion and candlelight at 11 p.m., preceded by special music presentation with the senior choir and Joyful Sounds Handbell Choir, directed by Jack Hemink, First Lutheran’s music director, beginning at 10:30 p.m.

First Lutheran will host a special joint service of Lessons and Carols on Sunday, Dec. 29, at 10 a.m. with the congregations of First Presbyterian and St. John’s Lutheran churches, Warren and Bethany Lutheran Church, Sheffield, participating. Music will feature the combined choirs from First Lutheran and First Presbyterian Churches under the direction of Barry Dietsch and Jack Hemink.

St. Luke Catholic Church, Youngsville, will have a Christmas Eve family Mass at 5 p.m. On Christmas Day, St. Luke will have a 9 a.m. Sung Mass.

St. Anthony of Padua Catholic Church, Sheffield, will have a Christmas Eve family Mass at 7 p.m.

Christmas Eve candlelight services will be held at 5 p.m. at Akeley United Methodist Church and at 10 p.m. at Russell United Methodist Church.

Grace United Methodist Church at 501 Pennsylvania Avenue E., Warren, will have Christmas Eve candlelight worship services at 7 p.m. and at 11 p.m. The prelude for the 11 p.m. service will begin at 10:30 p.m. The message title will be “The Best Gift Ever!”

St. Paul Lutheran Church, 306 Conewango Ave., Warren, will have a Christmas Eve service of Holy Communion and candlelight at 7 p.m. on Dec.24. The Rev. Sandra Jones will preach and preside.

Youngsville First United Methodist Church located at 225 E. Main St., Youngsville, will have a Christmas Eve candlelight service at 7 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 24.

Youngsville Evangelical United Methodist Church located at 18 Second St., Youngsville, will have a Christmas Eve candlelight service at 11 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 24.

Lander United Methodist Church will have a 7 p.m. traditional candlelight service and an 11 p.m. contemporary candlelight service with the Rev. J. Mark Hurst, pastor, on Tuesday.

Youngsville Free Methodist Church at its new location, 179 Davis St., Youngsville, will have a candlelight Christmas Eve service at 8 p.m.

On Christmas Eve, St. Joseph Roman Catholic Church, Warren, will have a Vigil Mass for The Nativity of the Lord (children’s Mass) at 5:30 p.m.; a choir prelude at 11:30 p.m.; and Midnight Mass for The Nativity of the Lord at midnight. On Christmas Day, Dec. 25, there will be a Mass for The Nativity of the Lord (Christmas Day) at 9 a.m.

On Tuesday, Dec. 31, New Year’s Eve, there will be a Vigil Mass for the Solemnity of Mary, The Holy Mother of God, at 5:30 p.m. On New Year’s Day, Jan. 1, there will be a Mass for The Solemnity of Mary, The Holy Mother of God, at 9 a.m.

Brokenstraw Lutheran Parish will have several holiday services. There will be a children and family service at 5 p.m. at Saron Lutheran Church on Christmas Eve, Dec. 24, and a 9 p.m. joint candlelight Communion service at Saron with the Berea congregation included. On Sunday, Dec. 29, the first Sunday after Christmas, Saron will have a Service of Word and Sacrament at 9:10 a.m., and Berea Lutheran will have a Service of Word and Sacrament at 11 a.m.

Emanuel United Church of Christ will have a Christmas Eve service of candle lighting beginning at 8 p.m. The service will begin with the lighting of the Christ candle. The Emanuel Choir will provide special anthems. The Christmas message will be “What Makes this Night Different?” Also, on Sunday, Dec. 29, a Service of Lessons and Carols will begin at 11 a.m.

Cable Hollow Church, 3157 Cable Hollow Road, Russell, will have a Christmas Eve service at 9 p.m. with Pastor Allan Jones.

First Church of the Nazarene will have its candlelight service at 7 p.m. on Dec. 24.
