Lula F. Rourke, 88, of 137 Rourke Road, Sheffield, died Tuesday, December 10, 2013 at UPMC Hamot in Erie.
Born June 8, 1925 in Endeavor, she was the daughter of Alex and Julia Haight Ishman. On March 14, 1942 in Venus, she married Robert D. Rourke, who survives.
Lula worked as an Licensed Practical Nurse at Warren State Hospital for over twentyfive years, retiring in 1986.
She was a member of the First Church of God in Marienville and P.A.R.S.E. She was an avid hunter, a great fisherman and was wellknown for the many, many apple pies she made.
Surviving, in addition to her husband, are two daughters, Judith Cochran and Louann Wolfgang, both of Sheffield; four sons, Ronald O’Rourke of Greensburg, Larry O’Rourke of Marienville, Stanley O’Rourke of Sheffield and Gerald Rourke, also of Sheffield, plus a sister, Rachel Eck of Redclyffe and brothers Raymond Ishman of Charlotte, N.C. and Donald Ishman of Clarion. Also surviving are sixteen grandchildren, Krystalyn Cochran of Polk, Gary Cochran of Sheffield, Tammy Thompson of Marienville, Amy Cochran of Tidioute, Joey O’Rourke of Waterford, Eric O’Rourke of Brockway, Robert Cochran of Marienville, Bridget O’Rourke of Wexford, Ryan O’Rourke of Portland, Ore., Laura Hertel of Brookville, Carl Rourke of Erie, Melissa Page of Warren, Breanna Winkle of Columbus, Ohio, Justin Wolfgang and Erin Hammerbeck, both of Sheffield and Jason Rourke of Rochester, N.Y. Twentyfour great grandchildren also survive.
She was preceded in death, besides her parents, by brothers Dean, Alex and Fred Ishman.
Friends may call from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 on Friday at the Ronald McDonald Funeral Home in Marienville, and may attend a service there at 11:00 on Saturday with the revs. Harold Crawford and Ben Kundick, pastors of the First Church in God, coofficiating. Interment will follow in Frost Cemetery in Pigeon.
