Building strong cancer survivors
The Warren County YMCA is raising a (paper) brick wall with strong words, and they need the community’s input. Anyone can stop at the Y and buy a brick to help build the wall. The bricks are yellow with the word “Strong” on the end of the brick. Write a word that will complete the word that honors someone in your life who gives you strength. A donation in any amount from $1 and more can be made in order to help support cancer survivors and their journey into healing. Livestrong at the Y is a free 12-week health and wellness program that offers many things to cancer survivors to help them continue to heal. The program may be free to the survivor but it comes at a cost to the Y to bring it to them. The Livestrong grant provided training dollars so the fitness staff understood the effects of cancer on the body and how to help survivors enhance their current physical health as well as information on the Livestrong Foundation and how they help cancer survivors find help in finances, health and community support. The funds from the wall will help support the program. Shown here with the Livestrong Wall helping apply bricks and waiting for empty ones to be filled with strong words are cancer survivors Marty Adams, Linda Licausi and Cindy Neizmik of the Livestrong at the Y pilot program.
