Winter Wonderland Craft Show, sponsored by Youngsville Fireman’s Auxiliary will be held on Saturday, Nov. 23, at the Youngsville Fire Hall from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. There will be 107 tables, food available, a Chinese auction, free admission. For information call 563-4042.

Open house, dinner
Free Thanksgiving dinner at the Youngsville Free Methodist Church, 179 Davis St. (new location) on Sunday, Nov. 24, 4-7 p.m. No reservations necessary. Phone 563-9009 with questions.
On Tuesday Nov. 26, a Community Thanksgiving Service will be held at the Saron Lutheran Church in Youngsville. The service will commence at 7:30 p.m. and all in the community are welcome and urged to attend. It is requested that those attending bring a non-perishable food donation to assist those in the area that not fortunate enough to have a balanced meal for the holidays.
Youngsville Borough Office will be closed Thursday, Nov. 28, and Friday, Nov. 29, for the Thanksgiving holiday. The public works personnel will be off for their floating holiday on Monday Dec. 2. Monday’s garbage pickup will be Tuesday. Recyclables’ will be pick-up on Nov. 27th; there will be no recyclables’ pick-up for December 2013. Tuesday’s garbage pickup will be Wednesday. The office will be open.
Truck load auction
On Nov. 24, a Truck load auction with special Christmas gift items and wholesale food and new merchandise, non-perishable food will be held at Garland Community Center, 204 Extension Road, Garland, PA 16416. Restore the store on the corner of IOOF and Main Street in Youngsville has a large variety of gently used clothing available for winter. Many coats and jeans and sweaters along with other items. A number of toys and games are also available. Come in and browse and the staff will assist you if needed. The cost of each item is .50. The Restore Store hours are Monday 10a.m. – 6p.m.; Tuesday 10 a.m.-2p.m.; Wednesday 1p.m. – 5p.m.; Thursday noon-4p.m.; Friday and Saturday 10a.m.-2p.m. The proceeds of the store benefit the Branch Fellowship and Love Inc. Ministries.

Youngsville I Head Start class recently enjoyed a trip to Warren’s Pizza Hut. The children took a tour and made their own pizzas.
Class of ’64

Junior District Chorus
Twelve students from the Youngsville Middle-High and the Warren County Christian School attended Pennsylvania Music Educators Association District 2 IU 5 Junior District Chorus on Nov. 16, 2013 held at the Titusville Area Middle and High School.
The guest conductors were Zachary Scott Covington and Mary Lynne Peters. The festival host was Andrea Strong. Thirty-two schools were represented from Warren, Erie and Crawford County School Districts.
The students that attended from Warren County Christian School were Desirae Kerr, Josiah Poindexter and Rachel Beatty accompanied by Mrs. Denise Kolcharno, Music Director at WCCS. Unable to go and not pictured was Rebekah Erdman, Students from Youngsville Middle School attended were Aleea Giese; Reaghan Chase; Jasmine Kays; Elizabeth Lucks and Nyko Mercado , Music Director, Patty Bush; Youngsville High School Students in attendance were Sarah Camp, Jacob Stover and Nicole Martin , Music Director, Anna Bielawski.
The Youngsville Ministerium Food Pantry, a ministry of the Youngsville Area Ministerium, is working with Second Harvest Food Bank and the Warren County School District to implement a Backpack Food Program in the Youngsville Attendance area. The Youngsville program will be the next stage of the pilot program currently being implemented in the Warren County School District. The Youngsville Elementary school has the second highest percentage of students eligible for free and reduced lunch in the Warren County School District with over 55 percent of the students eligible or over 300 children.
Youngsville Elementary Students who receive free and reduced lunch can choose to participate in the program. Those who participate will receive eight items of food to take home on Fridays for a breakfast, lunch, dinner and snack for both Saturday and Sunday. The food pantry has set a goal to raise at least enough money to sponsor 100 students in the Backpack Food Program for one year at a total of $15,000. The cost to sponsor a child is $150.00 per year.

Make checks out to either Youngsville Ministerium Food Pantry or Evangelical United Methodist Church (EUM) and indicate Backpack Program.

Friends of BVSP
The Friends of the Brokenstraw Valley Swimming Pool is holding a 13-basket raffle with the drawing taking place at 7:45pm on Dec. 13 at this year’s Christmas Walk. The baskets are on display at the Youngsville Pharmacy and Love Inc. Tickets may be purchased at the walk or ahead of time at the pharmacy, Heaven Scent, Weidner’s Deli and at the Youngsville Borough Office for the cost of 1 for $1 or a sheet of 10 for $5 starting today. Proceeds from this fundraiser will be used for capital improvements at the pool.
YHS basketball boosters will be having a turkey party on Saturday, Nov. 30, at the fire hall. Doors open at 6 p.m.; raffle starts at 7p.m. Free admission and have to be 18 or older to attend. Food and refreshments will be provided.
The Youngsville Touchdown club is selling $5 tickets for a Liberty Colonial Gun Safe. The safe is from Bower’s Liberty Safes and holds up to 25 guns. All proceeds from this raffle will benefit the Youngsville junior high and varsity football players and cheerleaders. If 500 tickets are sold, Dick Bower will pay $500 towards the cost of the safe. Tickets can be purchased at Watson’s, Bower’s Liberty Safes or Facebook Youngsville Touchdown Club. The drawing will be held Nov. 30 at the YHS Basketball Turkey Party held at the Youngsville Fire Hall. Only 800 tickets were made.
A Ladies Holiday Bunch will be held on Dec. 7 at the Evangelical United Methodist Church at 18 Second Street Youngsville. The luncheon will be from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. All ladies are invited. If you are attending, please call the church office at 814-563-4351 and inform the office, how many will be coming. Reservations will be taken until Dec. 3. A donation would be appreciated. This is to benefit the Women’s Ministry at the EUM Church.
