James L. Stewart Jr., 71, of Mena, Arkansas and formerly of Pittsfield, PA died on Tuesday, November 12, 2013 at his home following a courageous battle with cancer.

He was born on August 25, 1942 in Warren, PA., a son to the late James and Alice (Vinton) Stewart. He graduated from Youngsville High School in 1961 and was Honorably Discharged from the Navy in 1962. James was formerly employed at Sylvania for 20 years, Torpedo Wire and Strip for 5 years and Walmart for 15 years, retiring in 2004.

He enjoyed traveling, spending time with his family and friends as well as bowling and golfing with his two sons. He loved Country and Bluegrass music, his beloved Philadelphia Phillies, Washington Redskins, Notre Dame Football and “The King”, Richard Petty.

James is survived by his loving wife of 27 years, Rita Stewart, whom he married on December 21, 1985, in North Warren, PA., two sons, Mark (Jody) Stewart of Weldbank, PA., and Troy Stewart of Irvine, PA., three stepsons, Mark, Brian, and Mike Southwick, all of Colorado, one brother, Dave (Darlene) Stewart of Warren, PA., three beautiful granddaughters, Tierra, Tiffany and Courtney Stewart, two aunts, both of New York, one nephew and one great nephew.

In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by an infant brother, Jerry, and several aunts and uncles.

Friends will be received at the Otterbein United Methodist Church, Dalrymple Street in Pittsfield on Saturday, November 23 from 24pm., a memorial service will follow with Rev. Keith Martin, Pastor of the Otterbein United Methodist Church, officiating.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations in James’ name may be made to the Hospice of Warren County, 2 Crescent Park, Warren, PA. 16365.

The Nelson Funeral Home & Cremation Services, 314 North Main St. in Youngsville have been entrusted with all arrangements.
