GUY VANDERHOOF

Guy Vanderhoof Jr., 85, of Pittsfield, passed away Sunday evening at the Rouse Home in Youngsville.

He was born August 15, 1928 in Spartansburg, PA to Guy and Minnie Maud (Reick) Vanderhoof Sr. Guy was a WWII Navy Veteran serving aboard the USS Rochester and Missouri. He was formerly employed at Corry Jamestown and Pennsylvania Railroad. He was a member of the Youngsville American Legion #658, the AmVets Club in Sugar Grove, VFW in Corry, and the Lakewood Rod & Gun Club. He was a former member of the Warren Moose and Eagles Club and the Vikings Club in Lakewood, NY. Guy loved his model trains, gardening and canning, wine making, and his many inventions.

Guy is survived by his loving wife of 64 years, G. Joanne (Hall) Vanderhoof, whom he married on October 21, 1949 at the Berea Lutheran Church, two daughters, Rebecca Daughtry of Colonial Heights, Virginia, Suanne (Stephen) Bundy of Spring Creek, a son, James (Ann) Vanderhoof of Youngsville, a sister, Maxine Mitchell of Corry, a soninlaw Daryl Daughtry of Virginia, 11 Grandchildren, Nicholas (Leslie) Vanderhoof of Erie, Mathew and Brian Baker of Chester Virginia, John (Kelly) Vanderhoof of Charleston South Carolina, G. “Duff” Vanderhoof of Erie, Nathan Bundy of Spring Creek, Zachary Bundy of Erie, Christian Bundy of Missouri, Jesica Bundy and her companion James Turner of Youngsville, Jamie Vanderhoof and her companion Brian Brookhouser of Tidioute and Rebekah Tornetta of Audubon, PA, 10 great grandchildren, and his cat “Scooter”.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a son, Guy “Ted” Vanderhoof Jr., two sisters, Dorothy Lillie and Elizabeth Fitzgerald, and a granddaughter Abby Bundy.

Friends will be received on Tuesday from 47pm at the Nelson Funeral Home and Cremation Services, 314 North Main Street in Youngsville. A funeral service will be held there on Wednesday at 11am with the Rev. Steve Gruver, Pastor of the Otterbein United Methodist Church in Pittsfield, officiating. Burial will follow at the Wrightsville Cemetery.

In Lieu of flowers the family suggests memorial donations be made to the Playground Fund at the Otterbein United Methodist Church, 258 Dalrymple Street, Pittsfield, Pa 16340 or to the Friends of the Rouse, 701 Rouse Ave., Youngsville, Pa 16371.
