Edward K. Grove, 73 passed over at 2:21pm, Thursday, November 7, 2013, in his residence in Sheffield following a brief illness. He was born June 14, 1940 in Diamond, Pa. to the late Merle and Pearl Thompson Grove.
Ed was a lifelong area resident and worked for 27 years at National Forg while owning and operating a logging and tree service. He later worked for RM Grove Logging. A former member of the American Legion, Lakewood Rod & Gun, and the Elks Club, Eddie was an outdoorsman who enjoyed hunting, shooting trap, and taking trips out west.
An avid gun collector, he loved giving his special finds to his grandson Jake. A man of many interests, Ed played softball, bowled, canned peppers and soup, loved playing bingo and Texas Hold’um.
He is survived by his wife of 50 years, Judy Fox Grove, whom he married January 2, 1963 in Warren; a son Robert “Marty” Grove and wife Paulette, Sheffield; two daughters, Diane Sadler, Pittsburgh, and Denise Grove and companion Tom Martin, Tidioute; grandchildren, Paige Lubold, Jacob Edward Grove, Emily Grove, and Hayley Peters; a brother Ron Grove and wife Debbie, Emporium; and his puppy Suna.
In addition to his parents, Eddie was preceded in death by a sister Shirley Wagner.
Per Ed’s wishes, there will be no calling or services.
Memorial donations may be made to the Sheffield Volunteer Fire Department.
