School Security

Dear editor:

Would you rather have your child attend school in Phila. or Warren, PA? Phila. has police in the halls, Warren doesn’t, at least not yet. Do we need them? If we do, why don’t we have them? If we don’t need them, why talk about it?

Two lessons to learn: unthreatened schools are better for learning; and second, do we use grants (tax money) whether we need it or not? What kind of economics are we teaching?

More effort is needed to keep our society through family function safe for now and the future rather than security paranoia. Lets work toward taking the locks off of our schools rather than needing more of them.
