Presentation planned for VFD info roll-out

A public information project aimed at extending the reach and visibility of volunteer fire departments in Warren County now has a projected “go live” date.

The Warren County Council of Governments received an update from Paul Pascuzzi, COG Fire Services committee chair, on the project during Wednesday’s meeting held at the Rouse Annex in Youngsville.

Pascuzzi said that the “technical team for the public information program is well underway.” He said that 11 or 12 county fire agencies have been interviewed for the data that will be on the site.

“(We) will be making a formal presentation at our next meeting,” he added.

“There is a tentative schedule (with a) go live date of March 1,” said Pascuzzi. “We’re anticipating that our website will work much better than one that was provided by Washington,” sarcastically referencing the federal health insurance website healthcare.gov.

The county’s fire services are divided into regions and Pascuzzi said that the regional approach will be utilized to train all the departments on how to utilize the website.

Total cost of the project is approximately $80,000 and will create a collaborative network among the county’s volunteer fire departments that will allow the community to learn what services they can provide and how the departments can benefit from community support.
