WAHS students convince station school is cool

Students at Warren Area High School think their school is cool.

WICU Channel 12 News in Erie agrees.

Four WAHS students won WICU’s “How Cool is Your School?” contest with a video they created showing off what their school has to offer. WICU will broadcast their video between 6 a.m. to 7 a.m. morning show live from WAHS on Friday.

The video was created by WAHS seniors Luke Wortman, Alec Colosimo, Cameron Daniels and Bennett Steber; they were assisted by Rachel Stewart.

“I think the most important thing is these kids created, produced, directed and edited it all themselves,” Jeff Flickner, WAHS principal, said.

Their video entitled “WeBreatheFire” is a series of time lapse shots from WAHS classes interspersed with clips from football games, soccer games, gymnastics and shots from inside the classroom.

Flickner said the students used their own equipment and talent to produce the video.

WICU will do five live shots from the school, Flickner said, and students have been asked to create a pep rally like atmosphere for the broadcast. The pep band, cheerleading squad and WAHS students are invited to attend the broadcast.

“It will be pretty exciting, we’ve never had live television filmed here before,” said Flickner.
