Operation Overcoat warms up
Operation Overcoat, a joint effort between Northwest Savings Bank and the Warren Forest Counties Economic Opportunities Council, with the assistance of Anderson Cleaners in Jamestown, N.Y., is in full swing.
Distribution of the donated coats began on Friday at the Faith Inn at 225 Pennsylvania Ave. W. in downtown Warren.
Coats that are dropped off at Northwest Savings Bank offices will be cleaned by Anderson Cleaners.
They may also be dropped off at the Faith Inn, the EOC office in the former McClintock School building, 1209 Pennsylvania Ave. W., and at Crone’s Drug Store on Liberty Street.
Julia Roque, community service director for the EOC, said the organization requests that coats dropped off at those locations be washed, cleaned and ready to wear before donation.
She said, “Starting November 1, we will begin distributing the coats at the Faith Inn, but we will only collect until November 17.”
Roque noted that the program originally was Coats for Kids, but so many adults were in need that the program has expanded into Operation Overcoat to provide winter wear for anyone who is in need.
She also added that donations of gloves, hats and any other winter apparel is also needed and welcomed.
