JACK HOLCOMB

Jack L. Holcomb, 83, of Grand Valley, passed away peacefully Saturday November 2, 2013 in Pleasantville.

Jack was born August 26, 1930, in Grand Valley, a son of the late Marshall and Charlotte McIntyre Holcomb. He served in the US Navy, and was retired from CorryJamestown and the Pa. Game Commission, where he had worked as a deputy for 25 years. He was a member of the Grand Valley United Methodist Church, the GrandSan where he served as a trustee, and was also member of the Stillwater Lodge #547 F&AM in Youngsville and the Erie Shrine Club. Jack had been a longtime manager and board member of the former Hot Stove baseball league. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, golf and bowling league, archery hunting and playing cards with his friends.

Jack is survived by a daughter Sherri (Todd) Osborne of Titusville, four sons, Phillip (Michelle) Holcomb of Garland, Dennis Holcomb of Grand Valley, Jeffery Holcomb of Avon Lake, Ohio, and Scott (Sheri) Holcomb of Grand Valley, ten grandchildren, Tracy, Misty, Renee, Sara, Brooke, Andilynne, Morgan, Zachary, Mitchell and Benjamin, and 8 great grandchildren.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by the love of his life, his wife, Charlotte Brown Holcomb, who he married February 11, 1950, in Oil City, who died September 15, 2009, two brothers, Harold and Fred Holcomb and a sister June Phanco and his other sister Kathy Clinard, of Nashville, Tenn., who died the day after Jack.

Friends may call on Tuesday from 24 and 79 at the Nelson Funeral Home & Cremation Services, 314 N. Main St. in Youngsville. A funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday at the Grand Valley United Methodist, with the Rev. Ralph Culp, pastor, officiating. Burial will follow in the Sanford Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial donations be made to the Grand Valley United Methodist Church, P.O. Box 67 Grand Valley, Pa. 16402.
