Library art show winners announced

October is designated as “Photographer Appreciation Month,” and the Warren Public Library was pleased to offer an opportunity for local amateur photographers to receive recognition in the form of an Adult Photography Contest This event was open to Warren County residents ages 20 and up and all the photographs had to have been taken in Warren County.

Categories included: animals, architecture, bridges, events, historical landmark, nature, people, technology, transportation and water. Judging took place Oct. 17. Judges included amateur photographers Jane Harris, Kelli Knapp, Cindy Price and Marti Swanson, and camera /film instructors Holly Garland and Maria Johnson of the Jamestown, N.Y., area.

Category winners in the event were as follows: animals: first place-Kate Pierson, second place-Mark Evans, third place-Emily Jones; architecture: first place-Lisa Huya, second place-Jenna Kibbey, third place-Siby Thomas; bridges: first place-Mike Miranda, second place-Steve Warner, third place-Mark Evans; events: first place-Allan Bilanthover, second place-Jenna Kibbey, third place-Tamara Pudder; historical landmark: first place-Elissa Davis, second place-Christopher Goff; nature: first place-Jacque Caringola, second place-Mike Miranda, third place-Steve Warner; people: first place-Mike Miranda, second place-Jeff Scala, third place-Stella Walton; technology: first place-Steve Warner; transportation: first place-Jacque Caringola; water: first place-Lisa Huya, second place-Emily Jones, third place-Elissa Davis. The first place winner in each category was entered in the Best of Show judging. The Best of Show winner, which included a $75 cash prize, was Lisa Huya for her United Refinery entry in the architecture category. Runner-up in the Best of Show judging was Allan Bilanthover for his entry Blazing Fury and the second runner-up in the Best of Show was Lisa Huya for her bucket entry in the water category. A cash prize was also awarded to the crowd pleaser. This prize was based on votes by the public and went to Kate Pierson for her entry Bull’s Eye in the animal category.
