Retail Theft. Conewango police said on Oct 20 they were dispatched to Walmart for a retail theft in progress. Upon arrival, police met with Walmart Loss Prevention and they stated Jimi Jo Sobczak, Jamestown, N.Y., concealed merchandise and did not pay for all those items. Police recovered $684.70 worth of merchandise from Sobczak. Sobczak was charged with one count felony retail theft and was placed into the Warren County Jail on $10,000.00 bail.
Retail Theft. Conewango police said on Oct 20, they were dispatched to Walmart for a Retail Theft in progress. Upon arrival, police met with Walmart Loss Prevention and they stated Corey Adam Wells, Jamestown, N.Y. concealed merchandise and did not pay for those items. Police recovered $293.49 worth of merchandise from Wells that was placed inside a vehicle in the parking lot. Wells was charged with one count Summary Retail Theft and was given a Non-Traffic Citation and then released pending further court action.
Crash. Warren-based state police report on Oct. 23 at 6:43 a.m. a one-vehicle accident occurred on Pennsylvania Ave. W., just west of Scientific Rd. According to police, David Mangol, 23, of Union City, was traveling east on SR 6 when he swerved north, side-swiping the center concrete barrier with the driver’s side of the vehicle. Mangol’s vehicle came to rest in the west bound lane facing north and blocking one lane of traffic. Mangol was uninjured in the accident and his vehicle was towed from the scene.
Aggravated Indecent Assault. Warren-based state police report on Sept. 15, a known 30-year-old female was sexually assaulted by Kirk McNeeley, 43, of Clarendon, at his residence. Police report the victim was taken to Warren General Hospital for treatment of her injuries. According to police, McNeeley was charged with aggravated assault, intimidation of a victim or witness, aggravated indecent assault (two counts), corruption of minors, terroristic threats, unlawful restraint, indecent assault, simple assault, recklessly endangering another person, and indecent assault. Police report McNeeley appeared before District Justice Cynthia Lindemuth and is lodged in the Warren County Jail in lieu of $75,000.
Attempted Burglary. Corry based-state police said on Oct. 27, a neighbor of 51 West Main St. Columbus, witnessed two unknown males in work clothes attempt to gain entry into a garage by kicking the door. This incident is still under investigation according to police.
Crash. Corry-based state police report a one-vehicle accident occurred on Oct. 25 at 5:16 p.m. at Scott Crossing Rd. just north of SR 426. According to police, the crash occurred as Samantha Elliot, 18, of Houston, Pa., was traveling north on Scott Crossing Rd. and failed to negotiate a left curve and traveled across the opposing lane of traffic. The vehicle left the roadway and traveled 50 feet across the property’s front lawn before striking a brick flower bed and coming to rest. Police said Elliot and her passenger were not injured and Elliot was cited for driving on right side of the roadway.
Harassment. Warren based-state police said on Oct. 27, Scott Michael Genter, 30, Tidioute, and Jared Douglas Johnson, 21, Youngsville, entered into a verbal argument regarding whether Genter was trespassing on private property and owned by Johnson on Johnson Rd., approximately 100 yards from Shanley Rd. During the argument Genter struck Johnson in the face with his fist. During the incident Johnson poked Genter hard in the chest. Both Genter and Johnson were cited for Harassment.
Simple Assault. Warren based-state police said on Oct. 28, John Gordon Eck, 26, subjected a known victim to a physical altercation, resulting from a domestic dispute, in which the victim received bodily injury. Charges of simple assault and harassment were filed against Eck. An Arrest Warrant was obtained for Eck.
Receiving stolen property. Warren-based state police report between Sept. 23 and Sept. 25, Sylvan Energy reported the theft of approximately 9 rectangular oil jack weights from Hearts Content Rd. near Hickory Creek Trail Head. Police investigated and verified Burdette Thomas, 37, of the Warren County Jail, stole the jack weights. Police said Thomas was charged with theft by unlawful taking and receiving stolen property. Further court action is pending.
