The Women of Warren Alliance Church will host their annual Free-For-All, formerly the “Free Sale,” from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 26, at 278 Kinzua Rd. Items will include clothing, toys, household items, books, puzzles, small appliances and more.
Book sale set
The annual Warren Public Library three-day clearance sale will begin Oct. 24. Thousands of hard and soft covered books, audiovisuals and trade papers will be available, with something for all ages. Hours will be 10 a.m. to 7:45 p.m. Thursday and Friday and 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday. Items will be priced at 25 cents and up.
The Warren County Genealogical Society will meet at 7 p.m. Monday, Oct. 28, at First Lutheran Church. Speaker Edward Ball will present “Island of Hope, Island of Tears.” He will trace America’s immigration patterns and review sources of information for finding immigrant ancestors’ arrivals. Members and guests will also view an award-winning film about the Ellis Island experience. Art Sager will provide refreshments. The society welcomes anyone interested in family history and research. Hot dogs in Youngsville
An open house will be held at Stillwater Lodge 547, Free & Accepted Masons, Youngsville (behind Agway) from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 26. The public is invited for hot dogs, cider and candy for the children.
Circle Eight to dance this Saturday
The Circle Eight Square Dance Club will dance from 8 to 10:30 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 26, in the auditorium at Warren State Hospital, North Warren. Caller will be Gene Hammond.
Trail of Treats
The PNC Bank Trail of Treats will be held from 11:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 26, at Warren Mall. Children age 12 and younger are invited to trick or treat at this safe, indoor event. Cost will be $1 per child. Proceeds will benefit the Achievement Center, providing therapeutic services to children with special needs in the region.
Swiss steak served
A Swiss steak dinner with mashed potatoes, gravy, tossed salad, corn, squash and dessert will be served from 4 to 6:30 p.m. Friday, Oct. 25, at the Berea Lutheran Church Education Building, Rt. 6 at Rt. 958 in Wrightsville. Cost will be a donation.
Win at bridge
Winners in Monday evening duplicate bridge game at the YMCA were Joann Hultquist and Connie Michell, first with 41; and Magda Fanaritis and Matt Oram, and Hal Conarro and Joyce Davis, tied for second with 34.5.
The Slovenian Polka Boosters will have a John Berne dance from 2 to 6 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 27, at the Maple Inn, Rt. 46, Crosby, Pa. Cancer Center benefit
Curves of Warren, in the BiLo plaza, is having a unique fund-raiser for Breast Cancer Awareness Month, “Bedazzling Brassieres.” Patrons and passers-by are invited to stop by Curves to vote (with a cash donation) for their favorite. The last day to vote will be Oct. 31, and the winner will be announced Monday, Nov. 4. Proceeds will benefit the Cancer Center at Warren General Hospital.
