Just saying

Dear editor:

A recent Sunday morning, I watched the NRA’s Wayne LaPierre on “Meet the Press” claim that more Americans should be armed and that is the way to stop these mass shootings. “The only way to stop a bad guy with a gun, is a good guy with a gun!”

OK! Let’s go with that scenario! Let’s say you’re in a large mall (maybe like the one in Kenya) and a shooter begins knocking off patrons. A dozen or so patrons pull out their weapons to return fire. Patron “B” see’s armed Patron “A” and assumes he’s the shooter (BANG!). Patron “C” sees Patron “B” shoot “A” and assumes he’s the shooter (BANG!). Meanwhile the original shooter has ditched his gun and is pointing with his finger at Patron “D” and shouting “He’s the shooter!” just as the SWAT Team arrives (BANG!). The “Shooter” now blends into the crowd and disappears, leaving the police to sort out which one of the several armed men is the actual shooter.

Another thought, if you were a cop (with a wife and family) entering an active shooting scene and approaching several armed men, what would your instincts be?

Mine would be to put them all down!

Where are Wild Bill Hickok and Wyatt Earp when ya need them?

Ye Haaa!

P.S. This whole gun issue appears to be a scheme to make some people a lot of money. A year ago you could buy .22 ammo for $1.50 to $1.99 a box. Today, if you can find it, you’ll pay $6 to $7 a box!
