Jr. high hoops

Beaty’s eighth-grade girls basketball team beat Franklin, 33-18, on Thursday. Margo Loutzenhiser led Beaty with 17 points, Rachel Wilson added five, Taylor Lucks four, and Chelsea Wees and Abby Bouchard two each.

Beaty’s seventh-graders beat Titusville, 28-8. Ceci Citro had eight points for Beaty, Gracie Wood six, Laura Lucks four, Francesca Beuger three, Lily Nebinski three, Kadee Merenick two, and Kayla Giambrone two.

Jr. high football

Beaty’s seventh-grade football team tied Fort LeBoeuf, 7-7, in wet conditions on Thursday at Beaty Field.

Griffin Suppa;s 70-yard touchdown run early in the second quarter tied the game up, but neither team scored the rest of the game.

Devin McMeans and Jake Kupchella had interceptions for Beaty, which is 5-0-1. Gavin Lavin added a fumble recovery, and Marvin Bryant and Austyn Cummings were also defensive standouts.

Beaty’s last home game is versus Union City at 4 p.m. Thursday at War Memorial Field.

Freshmen football

Warren’s freshmen team lost, 26-18, to DuBois on Thursday at War Memorial Field. For Warren, Solomon Gross had three long touchdowns, but Warren turned the ball over on downs to end the game.

Gross had a first-quarter 77-yard screen pass from Nick DeSimone for a touchdown, and added touchdown runs of 86 and 55 yards.

Warren trailed 20-12 at the half.

Defensive backs that played well included Bryce Cummings, Tristen Davis, Alex Weston and Tyler Gelotte. Noah Becker and Brendan Mattson also played well defensively.

Warren’s last game is on Thursday at Warren.
