Dennis Knapp

Dennis R. Knapp, 71, of 1301 Fiddler Hill Rd., passed away Thursday, October 10, 2013 at his home.

He was born October 8, 1942 in Warren, to the late Robert C. and Genevieve Rulhman Knapp. Upon his graduation from Youngsville High School, Dennis served with the United States Marine Corps., in Japan, the Philippines and Taiwan. He worked at Cherry Point Air Force base and lived in Harkers Island, N.C. for 12 years and he worked as a welder at the National Forge in Irvine, retiring from there. He was a member of the Youngsville American Legion Post #658, Sugar Grove Am Vets, a lifetime member of the V.F.W. and D.A.V., the Stillwater Lodge #547 F. & A.M. in Youngsville and the Coudersport Consistory.

Denny was a loving father who enjoyed frequent trips to North Carolina, visiting his daughter and family. His favorite place was on the hill top home, where he was one with nature. He spent many hours watching deer and other wildlife from the convenience of his porch. He hosted many family gatherings up by his pond, where he shared his love of the water and taught many children how to swim. His willingness to share his knowledge and his farm resulted in many successful first time hunts for several junior hunters. He will be greatly missed by all who knew him.

In addition to his mother, he is survived by his best friend and companion of several years Jo Ann Singhas of Youngsville, his daughter Mia Denise(John)Smith of Beaufort, N.C. and Jo Ann’s loving family Lane, Robin, Jason and Bart Morrison and their children; his granddaughters Tabitha(Zack)Kington and Melissa Smith of Beaufort, N.C and his great grandson Owen Kington; his sister Connie(Scott)Jenkinson of Warren; step brothers Ed and Dan Williams; step sisters Jane Crossley and Jean(John)Olsen in Lander, Pa.; his niece Leslie(Andy)Cusimano of Frewsburg, N.Y and nephew Robert R. Young of Longmont, Co.

Dennis was preceded in death by his father Robert C. Knapp.

Services will be private and held at the convenience of the family.
