Concert Thursday

First United Methodist Church, 225 E. Main St., Youngsville, will host the Western Pennsylvania Conference United Methodist Ministers Chorus at 7 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 17. The chorus is a group of United Methodist Ministers and their spouses from throughout the conference. The chorus does eight concerts a year and is under the direction of the Rev. Stephen Morse and the Rev. Arnie McFarland. Those who come will have the unique opportunity of hearing a blend of men’s and women’s voices singing both separately and together. There will be no charge for admission; however, a free-will offering will be received. For information, contact the church at 563-4201. All are welcome. There will be additional parking across the street from the church at the Rouse Day Care Center.

Spooktacular Story Time at library

Adults and children are invited to come to the Warren Public Library dressed in costume on Saturday, Oct. 19, at 11:30 a.m. for a Halloween story time in the Slater Room on the third floor. There will be stories, songs, crafts and snacks. At the end of the program, children finished with their crafts can watch short Halloween stories on DVD while others finish. This program is geared towards ages 3 to 8, but all ages are welcome. Call Children’s Librarian Susan Slater at 723-4650 with any questions. Preregistration not required.

Blankets for Vets

If you are older than 55 and knit or crochet, consider making a lap robe for a veteran. RSVP, sponsored by Experience, Inc., will send them to the Veterans Hospital in Erie and supply the DAV van for the veterans who ride to medical appointments. RSVP will supply the yarn. AOC on the move

On Sunday, Oct. 20, the Allegheny Outdoor Club (AOC) will hike and do trail maintenance on the Toms Run Cross Country Skiing Trail at Hearts Content. Participants should bring gloves, a snack, and water and meet at Musante Street in Warren at 1:30 p.m. The club will provide the necessary tools. Warren High School Class of 1944 will have lunch Thursday, Oct. 17, at the Eagles Club, Pennsylvania Ave. E., Warren, with a get-together at 11:30 a.m. and lunch at noon. Spouses and significant others are welcome.

‘Dolly & Me’ Tea

A “Dolly & Me Christmas Tea” to benefit the Western New York Kidney Connection will be held beginning at 11 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 9, at the Moon Brook Country Club. There will be pictures with dolls, lunch, a beauty spa with hair styling and manicures, a doll clothing boutique, basket raffles, a raffle for an American Girl Doll and more. Garden Club to meet

Warren Garden Club will meet at 1 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 17, at the Jefferson DeFrees Family Center. Susan Mitchell, a new member, will talk about heirloom plants and seeds. A seed exchange will be held.

Comedy, dinner show

North Warren Volunteer Fire Department will have a “Comedy and Dinner Show” featuring professional comedians and a buffet dinner on Saturday, Oct. 19, at the fire hall, 12 S. State St., North Warren.
