Sheffield kicks off Appleseed Fest
The 8th Annual Johnny Appleseed Festival is roaring and underway.
The three day event, will continue on Saturday and Sunday at the Sheffield Memorial Park.
After opening ceremonies in the afternoon, the highlight of Friday’s festivites was the Professional Lumberjack and Lumberjills Competition in primetime.
Competitors came in from all over the northeast, from New Hampshire to Illinois, as well as from Quebec, Canada, to participate in the event.
If you missed the competition on Friday, it will continue on Saturday and Sunday at 10 a.m., both days.
Saturday will also feature an antique appraisal from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., as well as a heavy and light weight horse pull at 11 a.m.
Bands will be playing throughout the day, a Johnny Appleseed Festival Wine Trail will run from 1 p.m. to 6 p.m. and it wouldn’t be an Appleseed Festival without an apple pie judging contest which will take place at 3 p.m.
Fireworks will light up the sky on Saturday at 7:30 p.m., as well.
On Sunday, the main event, slated to start at 11 a.m., is an antique tractor pull.
