Jr. high grid

The Beaty seventh-grade football team improved to 5-0 with a 26-16 win over Youngsville Wednesday afternoon at Youngsville’s Mike Shine Field. Jake Kupchella threw four touchdown passes, including three to Griffin Suppa and one to Devin McMeans to lead the Beaty offense, while Noah Myers scored a pair of rushing touchdowns for the Eagles. Defensive standouts for the undefeated Dragons were Aidan Morrison, Austin Cummings, and Marvin Bryant. Beaty’s next game will be Thursday, Oct. 17 at home against Fort LeBoeuf.

Ike cross country

The Eisenhower cross country team will be hosting an Alumni Run on Saturday, October 12 on the Eco-Lab Course. Current team members will participate in an intersquad race at 9 a.m., followed by the Alumni Run at 9:30 a.m.. For information, contact coach Darlene Beach at 726-2284.

On Wednesday, October 16, Eisenhower will be sponsoring a Halloween Cross Country Pumpkin Run for students in grades 3-6 from the Northern Attendance Area. The distance of the run is approximately one mile and will be held on the Eisenhower High School cross country trail. If conditions are wet, the trail may be muddy. Each participant will receive an award and a Halloween treat. Members of the varsity cross country team will also participate in the run. For information, contact Darlene Beach at 726-2284.

SuperKwik course

Due to the government shutdown, the Warren County YMCA can not utilize the Kinzua Dam or Kinzua Beach for Saturday’s SuperKwik Half-Marathon. The race will start at 9 a.m. at the YMCA and the course is an out-and-back run using Hemlock Avenue. Course details include:

Lexington Avenue to Parker Street;

Left on Parker (up the hill);

Right on Pennsylvania Avenue (police will cross you to run against traffic);

Left on Hemlock Avenue at the Eagles Club;

Three water stations that you will see in both directions on Hemlock. Middle station will have powerade and water.;

Turn around at low guide wire marked by an orange flag overhanging Hemlock Avenue. There will also be a person there;

Right onto Pennsylvania Avenue (police will cross you again to run against traffic);

Left-hand turn on to Irvine Street, not Parker Street;

Left-hand turn on to Carver, run beside War Memorial Field;

Right-hand turn into Crossett parking lot (gravel lot), and;

Finish line behind YMCA.

Jr. high hoops

Youngsville A improved to 8-4 on the girls basketball season by defeating Rocky Grove, 47-21. Caitlin Craig scored 17 points, Autumn Hultberg added 12, Alanna Hultberg nine, Paige Mineweaser six and Maddie Cratty three.

Youngsville B picked up its fifth win, and avenged an early season overtime loss, by trimming Rocky Grove, 22-8. Alanna Hultberg led the way with 16 points followed by Christina Fischer with four and Ireland Smith with two points.

Lauren Crowther and Bailey Leamon played outstanding defensively for Youngsville.
