GIRLS SOCCER: Warren loses road match

ERIE – Warren’s girls soccer team fell to 3-11 overall and 2-4 in Region 4 in a 4-1 loss at first-place Mercyhurst Prep on Wednesday.

“We actually started out strong,” said Warren coach Bob Domville. “It seems like our starting 11 is beginning to solidify.”

Domville said Warren had a few scoring opportunities early in the first half, with Abby Funari getting a couple of good looks in front of the goal, and Kaitlin Ishman another.

But Mercyhurst scored first with eight minutes left in the half. Things started unraveling and, at halftime, Mercyhurst Prep led 3-0.

Trailing 4-0, Aldyn Poston found Morgan Danielson with 10 minutes left in front of the goal for Warren’s lone goal.

The defense was playing well, said Domville, including Kaylyn Adams, Danielle Smith, Katelyn Leonard and Gabby Enserro.

Claire Abplanalp , Aubrie Morley and Paige McCollough also played well.

In a 2-0 junior varsity loss, Samara Steber, Olivia Ashbaugh and Chelsea Winters were “among the freshmen stepping up,” said Domville.
