Warren Rotary Club receives three grants
Rotary Club of Warren has received three grants this year. The first two were from Rotary District 7810 under their Simplified District Grants program. The grants were awarded to the Warren Rotary Club for its continued support of the Salvation Army Soup Kitchen and the Cornplanter Council of the Boy Scouts. The Warren Rotary Club provided Salvation Army with $2,500 in food and financial support. The club provided the Boy Scouts with $2,000 towards a new hot water tank.
The third grant was provided by the Walmart Foundation for the club’s ongoing support of the Salvation Army Soup Kitchen.
Charles Cuneo, manager of the Warren Walmart Store, presented a check for $1,000 from the Walmart Foundation to Sathya Lingaraju Durkac, the club’s president.
The Warren Rotary Club meets at the Conewango Club for lunch every Wednesday at noon. In addition to lending support to the Salvation Army, the Chief Cornplanter Council BSA and the Warren County 4-H Club, it also provides two scholarships per year to deserving high school seniors.
Their next fund raising event will be the fall turkey party that they sponsor in conjunction with the Warren Exchange Club. That will be held on Saturday, Nov. 23, at St. Joseph’s Hall. Tickets may be purchased from any Rotarian or at the office of Stone Consulting, downtown Warren.
