Pastor feted on 30th anniversary of ordination

The Rev. David M. Blank was honored for 30 years of ordained ministry by members of First and St. John’s Lutheran Churches, Warren, and Bethany Lutheran Church, Sheffield, on Sept. 28.

Pastor Blank was ordained by the Western Pennsylvania West Virginia Synod of the Lutheran Church in America on June 11, 1983, at the Thiel College Passavant Center in Greenville. He has served the following congregations/institutions: Bethany, Sheffield & Moriah, Ludlow, 1983-1989; Holy Trinity, Little Falls, N.Y., 1989-2000; United Lutheran/Presbyterian Parish, Dolgeville, N.Y., 1986-2000; Lutheran Care Ministries, Clinton, N.Y., 2000-2006; and Ascension, Rome, N.Y., 2004-2006

Blank was called to First Lutheran Church in Warren as senior pastor and began his ministry May 14, 2006. He and First Lutheran’s associate pastor, Jeff Ewing, began providing pastoral leadership for St. John’s Lutheran Church, 200 Pleasant Ave., Warren, in 2011 and Bethany Lutheran Church, 110 Church St., Sheffield, in 2013.

Pastor Blank recently completed two terms as board member and board president of the Lutheran Home at Kane. He is the chairperson for the Northwestern Pennsylvania Synod Worship Committee and has served as master of ceremonies for the Warren Festival of the Arts for the past two years.

Pastor Blank is married to Judith Cole Blank and resides in Warren.
