Judge sentences two defendants to state prison

Two men were deemed to be sexually violent predators and had sentences handed down during hearings Tuesday afternoon before Judge Maureen Skerda.

Daniel Scott Muzzy, Spartansburg, entered a plea of guilty to a charge of involuntary deviate sexual intercourse with a child on April 12 and a Sexual Offenders Assessment Board evaluation was ordered.

Following that assessment, a hearing was held on Tuesday in which Muzzy was deemed to qualify as a sexually violent predator.

Muzzy was also sentenced on the charge of involuntary deviate sexual intercourse with a child to between ten and 20 years incarceration in a state correctional facility, pay $3,000 in fines and costs, submit a DNA test and have no contact with his victim.

Stephen Francis McMunn, 500 Water St., Apt. 2, entered a plea of guilty to a charge of interference with custody of children on April 11 and a Sexual Offenders Assessment Board evaluation was ordered.

Following that assessment, a hearing was held on Tuesday in which McMunn was deemed to qualify as a sexually violent predator.

McMunn was also sentenced on the charge of interference with custody of children to between 30 and 60 months incarcerations in a state correctional facility to run consecutively to a term he is currently serving, pay $925 in fines and costs, submit a DNA sample and have no contact with his victim.
