Leland Bud McChesney, 77, formerly of North Warren, Pennsylvania, passed away Friday, October 4, 2013 in De Pere, Wisconsin surrounded by his family.
Leland was born on October 9, 1935 on Sutton Hill in Deerfield Township to Mabel Rhoades and Leland Stanford McChesney. He grew up in Torpedo, PA and graduated from Youngsville High School in 1953 where he excelled in football, basketball, and track. After high school, Leland attended Lock Haven University. He proudly served in the United States Army while stationed in Germany from 1957 1959. He then moved to Buffalo, NY in 1959 where he worked at the Ford Stamping Plant for two years. Leland later moved back to Pennsylvania where he was employed at the National Forge Company for over forty years. In 1967, Leland married Dorothy Budzik and they raised their family in North Warren.
“Bud”, as he was known by those who knew and loved him, will be best remembered as a sweet and gentle man who thought of others first. He was a loving and caring father who always had a smile and hello for those he knew and met along the way. His detailed stories of “the good old days” while growing up in Torpedo and Corry, laced with his sense of humor and contagious laugh, will be deeply missed.
He is survived by his three children, Jennifer McChesney Wisecup, Julie McChesney Stiles and husband Christopher Stiles and Jeffrey Leland McChesney, grandchildren Jacob Leland Wisecup, Andrew Leland Stiles and Addison Michelle Stiles, brothers Richard McChesney and wife Patty and Fred McChesney and wife Anne, sister Mary McChesney Schmader and husband Denney and sisterinlaw Joyce McChesney.
In addition to his parents, Leland was preceded in death by his sister Jeanette McChesney, and brother William McChesney.
Friends will be received on Friday from 47 p.m. at the Nelson Funeral Home & Cremation Services, 314 N. Main St. in Youngsville, Pa. A vigil service will be conducted at the funeral home at 3:45 p.m. A Mass of Christian Burial will be conducted Saturday at 10:00 A.M. at St. Joseph R.C. Church, 600 Pennsylvania Avenue West, Warren, with the Rev. Fr. Richard J. Toohey, pastor, officiating. Burial will follow in the Sutton Corner’s Cemetery.
