Harvest Dinner Tonight

A Harvest Dinner will be held Friday, Oct. 4 at the Lottsville United Methodist Church from 4:30 to 7 p.m. Bring a friend and come enjoy an old-fashioned early Thanksgiving meal.

Concert The Chandlers Valley United Methodist Church, located at 9215 Jackson Run Rd. in Chandlers Valley, is hosting a concert by gospel singer Dan Schall on Oct. 9. The concert will begin at 6 p.m. Dan puts on a wonderful concert and everyone is invited to attend. Refreshments will be served after the concert.

Fall Sports The Eisenhower Knights have kicked off their Fall Sports Schedule and there are a number of games and events to come out and watch each week. Dress warm for the outdoor activities and come on out and cheer on the Knights.

The Junior High Football team will take on Conneaut in an away match on Oct. 10 at 5 p.m. The JV Football team will take on Cambridge Springs at home on Oct. 7 at 6 p.m. Tonight our Varsity Football Team will be in action at Cambridge Springs with a game starting at 7 p.m.

Our Knight Soccer will have a coupe of matches to catch this week. Boys will plat two away matches against West Forest on Oct. 7 starting at 4 p.m. and then Oct. 8 at Merchurst starting at 3:30 p.m. Our Girls will have an away match against Fairview on Oct. 7 starting at 5:30 p.m. and then they will have a home match on Oct. 9 against West Forest starting at 4 p.m. on the EMHS Soccer Field.

The Knights Volleyball team will have two matches this week. They play Rocky Grove at home on Oct. 8 at 6 p.m. and then they will travel to Cambridge Springs on Oct. 10 for a 6 p.m. match. Rounding out the week our Junior High Girls will play an away game at Oil City at 4 p.m. on Oct. 8 and then they will have a home game in the EMHS gym on Oct. 10 against Beaty starting at 4 p.m.

Our Cross Country team will attend their regional meet on Oct. 19 next week. The time and location will be announced later.

Community Lunch

Schedule

The Community Lunches in the area continue to be well attended. All lunches begin at 11:30 a.m. Everyone is invited to attend any or all of the area community lunches.

Each month lunch is held on the first Friday of the month at the Mission Covenant Church at the corner of Matthews Run and Jackson Run roads. On the second Thursday of each month at the Sugar Grove United Methodist Church located at the corner of Race and Jamestown streets in the center of town. On the third Wednesday of the month at the Hessel Valley Lutheran Church located in Chandlers Valley.

Everyone is invited to attend.

The Farmers Open

Sign up now for the Darrell Johnson and Jeff Lindell Memorial Farmer’s Open Golf Tournament. This year the tournament will be held on Oct. 10 with a shotgun start at 10 a.m. at Jackson Valley Country Club. The cost is $40 per person for 18 holes, golf cart, and lunch at the turn. This is a four-person scramble.

Call Jeff Savko at Jackson Valley 489-7803 by Oct. 7 to make your reservations. There will be prizes, special hole events, and more so get your teams together and register early.

School Schedule

Mark your calendars as the Warren County School District will not have classes on Monday, Oct.14.

School Pictures

Sugar Grove Elementary School students can plan on their fall school pictures happening Thursday, Oct.17.

Pancake Dinner

With the start of Fall brings back the great taste of the CVCC Pancake Dinners.

The Chandlers Valley Community Center will host a pancake dinner on Oct. 17 starting at 5 p.m. The cost is just a donation and proceeds go to help the events at the Community Center.

Book Club

The Sugar Grove Library Book Club will meet Oct. 28, the selection is “The Short Nights of the Shadow Catcher” by Timothy Egan. It is the non-fiction story of Edward Curtis, the renowned photographer who documented the saga of the American Indian.
