SCOTT WALTON

Scott A. Walton, 42, of Stilson Hill Road, Sugar Grove, passed away September 30, 2013.

He was born March 23, 1971 in Warren, a son of Bonnie McChesney Shirey of Pittsfield and the late Albert Walton. Scott was a 1989 graduate of Youngsville High School. He served in the United States Air Force during Desert Storm. He had been employed most recently at Joy Global, working as an assembly mechanic and was a member of the International Association of Machinists. This fall, he enrolled in classes at Jamestown Community College with hopes to become a nurse because he was so deeply impacted by the wonderful nurses who helped to care for his son.

Scott had a deep faith in the Lord, and relished being a member of the family of believers at Otterbein United Methodist Church in Pittsfield. At Otterbein, he diligently served on the Leadership Council and passionately played the drums for the worship team. Scott’s interest’s also included taking pictures, singing and listening to music including many wonderful memories of having been a DJ with his father. He admired God’s creation, liked backpacking, and was happiest while being outdoors in the sunshine. He was a loving, dedicated, and attentive father and husband. Scott took genuine interest in everyone he met and touched the lives of countless people. He will be deeply missed by his many friends and his family.

In addition to his mother and stepfather, Charles Shirey, Scott is survived by his loving wife Emma Heberlein Walton, whom he married December 27, 2003 in Youngsville; his six month old son, Conrad; a sister Ellen Cressley of Black Mountain, NC; two stepsisters: Peggy Shirey of Warren and Patty Kirkwood of Youngsville; a stepbrother Mike Shirey of Warren; maternal grandfather, Arthur McChesney of Youngsville; paternal grandmother Arlene WaltonStrickland of Grapevine, TX; his father and motherin law, Dennis and Carol Heberlein of Erie; his brother and sisterinlaw, Dennis and Vickey Heberlein of Bristolville, OH; and many other family members and special friends.

In addition to his father, Scott was preceded in death by his stepmother, Mary Mulvey Walton; his paternal grandfather Wilbur Walton; his maternal grandmother Ruth McChesney; and his paternal step grandfather William Strickland.

Friends will be received on Thursday from 58 p.m. at the Otterbein United Methodist Church in Pittsfield. A funeral service will be held there on Friday at 11:00 a.m. with the Rev. Steve Gruver, pastor, and the Rev. Tom Strandburg, officiating. Burial will follow in the Stilson Hill Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests that donations be made to a memorial fund for Scott’s son Conrad. Gifts can be sent to Otterbein United Methodist Church, 258 Dalrymple Street, Pittsfield, Pa., 16340 to be held until a bank account can be set up at a local bank.
