Kinzua soccer

Kinzua Yeager defeated previously unbeaten Clarion White, 2-1, on Sunday in U-12 soccer. Goals were scored by Rylie Yeager and Riley Childress. Outstanding defensive performances by Kyleigh Wilson, Alex Ferry and Taylor Childress helped earn the win. Ethan Massa made several great saves as goalie.

Youth trap

Michael McDunn and Elijah Trawick turned in the only perfect scores Sunday in the Fall Youth Trap League – each breaking all 25 targets in sharing “Top Gun” honors during the 4th week of competition. Dalton Becker shot 24 out of 25, Noah Carlson, Kyle Traut, Ross Betts and Mike Betts each shot 23 out of 25. Aaron Borger, Matt McDunn, Eric Cecco, Zane Olsen, Hayden Edwards, Hunter Trawick and Grant Gates each shot 22. Ashlee McClure shot 21 and Anna Lindemuth shot 20. Dalton Becker won High Gun for the League with a 96 percent average.

Ashlee McClure was High Lady.

Free Field Day is 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 6.

Sheffield ranked

Sheffield High School’s football team is 3-2 on the season, and 2-0 and in first place in District 9’s Allegheny Mountain League North Division, after a 21-20 win over Coudersport on Friday at Coudersport. Sheffield has moved into the 2013 District 9 Football Top Ten Team Rankings – at No. 10.

Sheffield’s win over Coudy marked the second straight season the Wolverines have beaten the Falcons after 25 straight losses to them dating back to 1987.
