Jeff Zaffino wins 23rd PBA regional title

DELPHOS, OHIO – Jeff Zaffino has been red-hot in Warren County bowling leagues recently.

He rolled a perfect game last week at Riverside Lanes, but it was a 274 game this weekend that was much bigger.

Zaffino started the months with a Professional Bowlers Association (PBA) senior tour regional title – the 22nd of his career, and he ended the month pretty well, too, this past weekend.

Zaffino has been working to find a new brand of bowling ball recently. On Saturday, he didn’t start out too well at the PBA50 Mel Westrich Memorial Central/Midwest Open, presented by Storm Results, in Delphos, Ohio.

After his first four of eight games in the qualifying round, he was outside the top 14 of 45 bowlers that would qualify for head-to-head play.

After a 274 game, he rolled through qualifying, finished 11-3 in head-to-head and won the 23rd PBA regional title of his career.

In all, Zaffino had over a hundred total pins above second place (www.pba.com/Tournaments/RegionalResult/3181), and won $1,400 for his efforts – and he’s getting more and more comfortable with his new bowling ball.
