Jr. high hoops

Warren’s seventh-grade girls team remained unbeaten with a 20-4 win over Bradford on Tuesday. Gracie Wood led Beaty with 10 points, Ceci Citro added five, Lily Nebinski and Laura Lucks two each, and Francesca Beuger one point.

Eisenhower and Sheffield split a pair of junior high girls basketball games Wednesday afternoon – Sheffield winning game one, 28-21, in two overtimes, and Eisenhower taking game two in overtime, 16-14.

With the teams tied at 21-21 in game one, Sheffield scored seven unanswered points in the second overtime to claim the win. Mya Grubbs paced the Wolverines with 10 points, Isiss Pratz had five, Destiny Wynn four, Eliza Davidson three, and Kennedy Confer, Taya Bailey, and Lexi Lyon each had two. Sami Shelton and Haley Spicer each had six points for Eisenhower, Payton Mineweaser and Maya Edwards had three, Savannah McKown and Miranda Garris each had two.

In the second game, the Lady Knights took advantage of a 4-for-8 free throw shooting performance in overtime to win, 16-14. Cameron Edwards had six points, Lexi Head three, Ashley Vanguilder, Tess Morningstar, and Shayla Hagg each had two, and Caroline Hishman one. For Sheffield, Lexi Lyon had nine, Destiny Wynn four, and Mya Grubbs one.

Correction

Quinn Boger and Ben Auzou scored twice each, and Jason Stanton, Austin Goldthwaite, Mitch Dorunda, Joey Close, Tyler Mealy and Jason Tipton each added a goal in Warren’s 10-0 boys high school soccer win over Oil City on Tuesday at War Memorial Field.

Sheldon McMeans and Auzou had two assists each, and Close, Ryan Gustafson, Stanton, Mealy and Dorunda also recorded assists for Warren.
