College news

Youngsville High School graduate TJ Hardy hit his first college field goal on Saturday, a 29-yarder for Division II Edinboro in a 20-7 loss Saturday to California University of Pa.

Sheffield High School graduate Nick Bonavita set a career high with eight tackles, seven solo, as a sophomore defensive back for Division III Juniata College, a 38-16 winner over Gettysburg College on Saturday in their Centennial Conference home opener.

Kinzua soccer

The Kinzua U12 Flatt boys team defeated Penncrest, 11-0, on Sunday in Warren. Caleb Lindell had three goals, Ryon Flatt and Mitch Grosch had two goals each, and Devon Navaroli, Damon Navaroli, Ben Berdine, and A.J. Seyler each scored a goal. The assists were by Berdine with two, and Lindell, Flatt, John Page, Luke Smelko, and Thomas Bablak. Tyler Gustafson contributed excellent ball-handling in the win. Defensive standouts were Alex Nebinski and Smelko. Shutout goalies were Bablak and Gustafson.
