Ruth A. Fullom McChesney, 87, of the Rouse Suites, Youngsville, Pa., and formerly of Turnpike Road, Corry, Pa., died on Thursday, September 19, 2013, at Warren General Hospital.
She was born on December 20, 1925, in Corry, Pa., a daughter of the late Tommy and LaVerne Russ Fullom.
Ruth was raised and educated in Corry, graduating from Corry High School in 1943. She then worked for Aero Supply for several years before staying home to raise and care for her family. Later, she worked in the office at McInnes Steel for over 30 years.
She was a member of Beaverdam Mennonite Church and volunteered for Love, Inc., and was treasurer for the Corry Grange. Ruth loved going to her children and grand children’s activities and also enjoyed cooking and baking.
In addition to her parents, Ruth was preceded by five sisters, Mildred Swan, Ethel Spencer, Erma Lloyd, Katherine Bailey and Opal Fenno; and two brothers, Paul and Carl Fullom.
Ruth is survived by her husband, Arthur McChesney, whom she married on November 1, 1946 in Corry; a daughter, Bonnie Shirey and her husband Chuck of Pittsfield, Pa.; and two sons, Kenneth McChesney and his wife Darlene of Corry, Pa., and Eugene “Stub” McChesney and his wife Penny of Kernersville, N.C. She is also survived by six grandchildren, nine greatgrandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
Family and friends are invited to call at the Beaverdam Mennonite Church, 17721 Route 89, Corry, Pa., on Monday from 10 am until the time of the funeral service there at 12 noon. Pastor Robb Esh will officiate.
Burial will be in Beaverdam Cemetery, Corry, Pa.
