GIRLS SOCCER: Dragons top Corry

CORRY-The Lady Dragons earned their second win of the season on Tuesday, 5-1, on the road at Corry.

Warren wasted no time jumping ahead when Morgan Danielson took a pass from Gabby Enserro and found the back of the net to put her team up, 1-0.

Danielson then assisted Summer Rosendahl for the Lady Dragons’ second goal, and Rosendahl made it a pair just before the half on a pass from Amy Castagnino for a 3-0 advantage.

Corry’s lone goal came courtesy of Megan Donato early in the second half, but Warren answered quickly when Castagnino intercepted a Corry goal kick and beat the keeper for an unassisted tally.

The Lady Dragons’ final goal of the evening came when Abby Funari scored on a corner kick from Danielson, and Warren was able to ride out game on a 5-1 lead to improve to 2-4 on the year.

Paige McCullough and Justine Lasecki combined efforts in goal for the Lady Dragons.

“We have improved from our last couple outings,” said Warren coach Bob Domville. “We’re still trying to figure some things out as a young team with some injuries. We were able to get some younger players in today, and any time you can get them varsity time is a good thing. I would like to add that Cheylee Smith, Katelyn Adams, Emilia Beuger, and Lindsay Onuffer really brought their game up today.”

The Lady Dragons will look to make it two in a row on Thursday, when they travel to McDowell for a non-region contest.
