CROSS COUNTRY: Ike’s VanGuilder, Youngsville’s Messinger win races at Corry

The Warren boys and girls cross country teams dropped a pair of tri-meet match-ups against Union City and North East Tuesday at Warren Area High School.

The boys were defeated by Union City, 34-24, and North East, 51-17. The Lady Dragons fell to the Bears and Grapepickers, both by scores of 50-15.

The Dragon boys received another strong performance from freshman Blake Ristau, who finished fourth with a time of 19:15. Anna Falvo led the way for the Warren girls, finishing ninth with a time of 23:45.

“On the boys side, they are showing a lot of promise as a team,” said Warren coach Julia Dustin. “They had a good grouping of runners, and now it just comes down to learning to race well. Blake Ristau led the men’s team with a great time considering how difficult the course was. Christian Olson also had a good race and finished second for our guys team. On the girls side, Anna Falvo and Deanna Hahn are running strong and looking like they will peak at the right time in the season.”

Warren will return to action on Saturday at the Blue Devil Invitational in Sharpsville, Pa.
