Wiffleball tourney

The annual Casey Gray Memorial Wiffleball Tournament, to benefit the Warren Cancer Care Center, will be held on Saturday, Sept. 28, at Werner Park in Russell.

Teams of five players are $50 donation per team, and the tournament will begin at 8 a.m. For information, call Shawn Gray at 688-1592.

College news

Youngsville High School graduate TJ Hardy was 5-for-5 in extra points as a freshman kicker for Edinboro University in a 47-35 loss to Bloomsburg on Saturday in Bloomsburg. He had a touchback on kickoffs.

Warren Area High School graduate TJ Latimer had a tackle in Mercyhurst University’s 49-7 win over Millersville on Saturday in Erie.

Warren Area High School graduate Colter Johnson had five punts for 180 yards (36.6 average) in Division I UMass’s 37-7 loss on Saturday to Kansas State. Three of his five punts went inside his opponents’ 20.

JV boys soccer

Warren shut out Bradford, 5-0, in the junior varsity match on Monday at War Memorial. Austin Goldthwaite had three goals, and Jon Chase and Steffen Blair one each. Blair had two assists, Chase one, and Sheldon McMeans one. Spencer Zaffino was the shutout goalie.

Youth trap

Elijah Trawick, Noah Carlson, Matt McDunn and Michael McDunn each shot 24 out of 25 to take “Top Gun” honors for week 2 of the Fall Youth Trap League. High Lady was Ashlee McClure with 21. Dalton Becker, Jason Gustafson, Zane Olsen, Brian Bonner and Matt Sweigart each shot 23 out of 25, Haiden Edwards and Parker Johnson each shot 22, Jake Courtney 21, and Kyle Traut, Jeremy Carlson and Mike Zeigler 20 each.

In week one, Edwards, Becker and Traut each shot 25 straights to tie for “Top Gun.” High Lady was McClure again with 23, and Anna Lindemuth shot 22. Noah Carlson, Aaron Borger and Trawick shot 24, Ross Betts, Gustafson, and Michael McDunn 23 each, Alex Kyler 22, Zeigler, Sweigart, Carlson and Parker Johnson 21 each, and Olsen, Bonner, Matt McDunn, Grant Gates and Hunter Trawick 20 each.

Jr. high hoops

Ike Blue fell to Bradford, 24-12, on Monday. Blue’s scorers were Savannah McKown with six points, Sami Shelton four, and Miranda Garris two.

Eisenhower Gold won 18-14. Ike was led by Cameron Edwards with six, Delaney Mizzi six, Caroline Hishman two, Lydia Gianinni two, and Brielle Whitney two.

Ike is at Youngsville on Wednesday.

Beaty’s seventh-grade girls are 5-0 after a 32-16 win over Walnut Creek. Gracie Wood led Beaty with 12 points, Laura Lucks added 10, Ceci Citro six, and Kadee Merenick and Kayla Kiambrone two each.

Beaty’s eighth-graders are 8-2 after a 36-6 loss to Walnut Creek. For Beaty, Maro Loutzenhiser, Rachel Wilson and Morgan Lupole had two points each.

Warren Area High School’s only home varsity/junior high cross country match is at 4 p.m. Tuesday, behind the Warren County Career Center.
