VanGuilder sixth, Bauer 13th at Red Dragon
BEMUS POINT-The Eisenhower Knights cross country teams took part in the Red Dragon Invitational on Saturday, with the girls finishing ninth out of 12 teams and the boys finishing 10th out of 12 at Long Point State Park.
Devin VanGuilder was the lone medal winner for Eisenhower, finishing sixth out of 95 runners in the boys race with a time of 17:26. Julia Bauer just missed out on a top ten finish, coming in 13th out of 85 female runners.
Rounding out the runners for the Lady Knights were Kate Daugharthy (41st, 24:06), Lacey Stanko (43rd, 24:11), Grace Thompson (59th, 25:59), Hannah Bortz (65th, 26:32), and Emily Rutsky (85th, 46:31).
Following VanGuilder in the boys race were Tim Lange (45th, 19:37), Ben Morrison (49th, 19:44), Jacob McCool (56th, 20:17), Derek Lasecki (85th, 24:15), and Jason Morine (88th, 24:38).
“Obviously, we would like to do a little better teamwise,” said Eisenhower coach Darlene Beach. “On the girls side, Kate Daugharthy improved her time from last year as did Jacob McCool for the varsity boys. The kids enjoy running the course and we had nice weather on Saturday.”
The Knights will return to action on Tuesday, competing along with Youngsville at Corry. Eisenhower and Warren will compete at the Sharpsville Invitational on Saturday.
