CROSS COUNTRY: Dragons, Eagles split at tri-meet

The Warren boys and Youngsville girls each picked up a win in Tuesday afternoon’s tri-meet with Seneca hosted by Youngsville at the Warren County Fairgrounds.

Seneca swept the day, going 2-0 in both boys and girls match-ups.

Warren’s Anna Falvo finished third in the girls 5K race with a time of 22:34, just ahead of Youngsville’s Brook Messinger at 22:44.

Piper Olson of Youngsville finished sixth, Warren’s Deanna Hahn finished seventh, Youngsville’s Leigh Fehlman came in at number eight, and Lydia Swartzbaugh finished 10th to round out the county runners in the top 10.

On the boys’ side, Warren’s Blake Ristau placed fourth with a time of 19:05. Youngsville’s Tanner Burns finished seventh, and Warren’s Brandon Nielson was 10th.

Youngsville will next compete alongside Eisenhower at Corry on Tuesday, while the Dragons host North East and Union City, also on Tuesday.

ERIE-The Eisenhower girls went 1-1 and the boys went 0-2 in a tri-meet with North East and Fort LeBoeuf Tuesday at Family First Sports Park in Erie.

Julia Bauer finished in fifth place with a time of 22:59, while Lacey Stanko and Kate Daugharthy finished 10th and 11th each with a time of 26:44 to lead the Lady Knights.

Devin VanGuilder’s third-place finish was best for the boys, coming in with a time of 17:48.

The North East boys and girls each went 2-0 to lead the field.

Eisenhower is back in action on Saturday in the Red Dragon Invitational at Long Point State Park in New York.
