GIRLS GOLF: Lady Dragons finish third at Meadville
MEADVILLE-The Lady Dragons golf team placed third out of four schools at Monday’s region megamatch at Meadville Country Club.
McDowell took first with a team score of 190, host Meadville was second with 203, Warren came in at 223, and Strong Vincent finished with 273.
Warren’s Megan Smoulder had the second best individual score with a 45, finishing just behind McDowell’s Megan Kaverman, who shot a 43 on the day.
“By finishing second, Meggie did something that none of my golfers ever accomplished in my three years of coaching. That was awesome,” said Tom Smoulder. “Plus the rest of girls fought hard. One of them especially was Libby Hammond, who couldn’t get the putts to fall but was cranking the drives and demonstrating good ball striking all night.”
Hammond shot a 53 for the Dragons which was followed by Clancy Fyock’s 62, Meghan Loutzenhiser’s 63, and Ashlee McClure’s 70.
