‘Cowboy Church’ Sunday, Sept. 15

Wrightsville Community Church will have “Cowboy Church” on Sept. 15 with service starting at 11 a.m. Come, bring your lawn chairs and enjoy this western themed event, with preaching from horseback, a chili cook-off, delicious food, a hayride, and general all around fun. To enter the chili cook-off, simply give your dish a name, label it, and bring it with you. The church is located on Boardman Street just off of Rt. 958 next to the Wrightsville Fire Department.

MOAA to meet

The Military Officers Association will hold its annual meeting and installation of officers on Saturday, Sept. 21, at 3 p.m. at the Penn Hills Country Club in Bradford. Host for the meeting will be CWO3 William A. Reynolds, USCG Ret., A former president of the chapter. CWO3 Reynolds will also be the installing officer. This meeting is open to all officers of any branch of the military services, active, reserve or retired. Scala program

canceled at library

The Rose Scala program scheduled at the Warren Public Library on Thursday, Sept. 19, has been postponed to Oct. 3. More information will be announced as the event approaches.

Pittsburgh

pilgrimage planned

St. Luke Catholic Church, Youngsville, will sponsor a pilgrimage to St. Anthony Chapel of Relics on Oct. 10. A motorcoach will leave St. Luke parking lot at 7 a.m. and return the evening of Oct. 10. Cost is $99, which also includes a fall sightseeing cruise aboard the Gateway Clipper, lunch at an Italian restaurant in Station Square, and a tour of St. Patrick Church and St. Stanislaus Koska Church in the historic Strip District. Deadline for reservations is Sept. 25. Call Mary Donahue at 563-4010 or the Rev. Fr. John Neff, 563-4432, to reserve a seat on the bus, which is filling up fast.

AOC on the move

On Thursday, Sept. 12, the Allegheny Outdoor Club (AOC) will ride bikes in the Frewsburg area. Participants will meet at the Jamestown Audubon Center at 5:30 p.m. and ride to Frewsburg then stop for dinner at the Frewsburg Hotel before returning to the starting point. On Saturday, Sept. 14, the AOC will ride bikes or hike in the Russell area. Participants will meet at the home of Bill and Jean Ferry at 101 Werner Drive at 2 p.m. From there members can either ride bikes for 12 miles or hike for four miles. After that members will visit the Weatherby Antique Collection in Russell then return to the Ferrys’ for a picnic- hot dogs provided. For more information, call Bill or Jean Ferry at 757-9260.

Youngsville High School Class of 1948 will have breakfast at 9:30 a.m. Thursday, Sept. 12, at Richard’s Restaurant in Youngsville.
