BOYS SOCCER: Dragons suffer shut out loss
HARBORCREEK – Warren has had a tough start to the 2013 season at 0-2 after a 7-0 loss to Harbor Creek on Saturday.
“It was a combination,” said Warren coach Tom Harrington, of the Dragons’ worst defeat since he’s been coach. “Harbor Creek has a very tough team – they are expected to win the district, and have the best player, and we have some guys that started to hang their heads after we got down a couple goals.
“We’ve got to figure out ow to get 100 percent out of 100 percent of the guys, 100 percent of the time,” said Harrington, whose Dragons trailed 3-0 at halftime.
“They scored three goals early and then we shut them down in the first half,” he said, “and got some scoring opportunities. Of course we didn’t convert, but we felt like maybe a little momentum was going our way into halftime. But they came out fired up and took it right to us. Sheldon McMeans played really well off the bench, Matt Campbell had a really hard work rate, and Mitch Dorunda worked his butt off.”
The schedule doesn’t get easier, as Warren hosts Mercyhurst Prep at 6 p.m. Wednesday, and then travels to play Cathedral Prep at 1 p.m. Saturday.
