Doris M. Black Whaley, 94, formerly of 2nd St. in Youngsville, passed away, Friday, September 6, 2013 at the Warren Manor.

Doris, a lifelong resident of Youngsville, was born there, December 20, 1918, a daughter to the late James and Myrtle Black. She was a graduate of Youngsville High School and then went on to Hoff Business College. She was employed at Rodgers Structural Steel in Corry, REA in Youngsville during World War II and then at the former National Forge Co. for 20 years. She belonged to St. Francis of Assisi Episcopal Church in Youngsville, the BitO Bridge Club, and the St. Francis Women’s Guild. She loved reading. Doris, and her late husband, had placed veteran’s flags in the Youngsville and Greek Orthodox Cemeteries for 30 years.

Doris is survived by a son, Richard and his wife Juanita Whaley of Youngsville, 2 granddaughters Crystal Whaley of Erie, and Jennifer Hall of Starbrick, and a great granddaughter Samantha Whaley.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 60 years, Albert H. Whaley, and an infant brother Robert.

Friends will be received at the Nelson Funeral Home & Cremation Services, 314 North Main St., in Youngsville, on Tuesday, from noon until 1:00 p.m., at which time a memorial service will be held there with the Rev. Larry Scofield, pastor, officiating. Burial will be at Warren County Memorial Park.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial donations in Doris’s name be made to the St. Francis of Assisi Episcopal Church, 343 East Main St. Youngsville Pa. 16371, or to the Youngsville Vol. Fire Dept. on Fireman’s St. in Youngsville. Condolences to the family may be made at
