Warren boys 8th at Corry golf invite; Lady Dragons 3rd at megamatch

CORRY – Warren finished eighth out of 25 teams at Thursday’s Corry North Hills Invitational golf meet, led by Anthony Deppas’ season-best 18-hole 80.

Deppas’ mark put him tied for sixth overall, and Andrew Gignac was right behind him at 82.

Harbor Creek won at 320, and host Corry finished fourth at 342. Warren was at 357, and Eisenhower also competed.

Lady Dragons 3rd

ERIE – Warren finished third at its Region 2 girls megamatch on Thursday at JC Martin.

Megan Smoulder was third overall with a nine-hole 39.

“I would say out Lady Dragons made me proud tonight,” said Warren coach Tom Smoulder. “Meg’s 39 and Libby’s (Libby Hammond) 46 were fun to watch. Clancy (Fyock) fought hard and is showing signs of a breakthrough year. Plus, Meghan Loutzenhiser and Ashlee McClure together both improved by several strokes from last match.”
