GIRLS SOCCER: Knights start 1-0
The Eisenhower girls soccer team opened its season on a high note with a 2-1 win Thursday over Conneaut at Eisenhower High School.
After a scoreless first half, Conneaut started up the scoring to open the second half. Eisenhower’s Courtney Jewell tied things up with 28:47 to play. Just over three minutes later, Eisenhower scored again, this time from Sidney Wallin with an assist by Jackie Talasky, to bring the team to their 2-1 final score.
“We still have areas to work on, but the girls are showing effort. The extra conditioning they’ve been doing goes a long way,” said Ike first-year coach James Brannon. “Conneaut played outstanding. They came to play. The girls needed to give a hundred percent and they obviously came away with the ‘W.'”
Wallin had a solid effort with four shots on top of her goal, while Talasky, Tiffany Work and Jessica Jameson notched shots of their own.
The Knights, which tied Conneaut to open last year’s season, travel to Seneca on Monday for their second game of the season.
