VOLLEYBALL: Warren, Tidioute net volleyball victories

ERIE – Warren improves to 2-0 with a 25-18, 25-20, 18-25, 25-18 win at Mercyhurst Prep on Thursday.

Rachel Lasecki had nine kills and two blocks, Valerie Latimer 11 kills and three blocks, Allie Morrison seven kills, Teah Bines 32 assists, and McKenzie Merenick 16 digs in a total team effort.

“Mercyhurst Prep played good defense, so we really had to control the bal and attack well to win,” said Warren coach Mike Dolan. “We had a little breakdown in communication and ball control in the third game, but we finished the match strong.

“(Allie) Morrison had a nice game at the net and (McKenzie) Merenick played well at libero,” said Dolan. “It was a nice road test before region play starts next week.”

The junior varsity los, 19-25, 11-25. Haley Nelson had three aces and one kill for Warren, and Jen Daugharthy two aces and a kill.

TCCS 3, Jamestown Bethel 2

Tidioute Charter evened its record at 1-1 with a long five-set victory over Jamestown Bethel on Thursday at TCCS.

“We didn’t play to our potential, but four of my starting varsity are freshmen,” said TCCS coach Margie Manning, whose Bulldogs won, 25-20, 13-25, 22-25, 25-20, 16-14. “We play Warren County (Christian School) on Monday and they are a strong serving team, which was our weakness today.”

Robbi Kitelinger had seven aces and two kills, Ana Lindemuth eight aces and six kills, Emalei Schaberl four aces and Netti Durstine four aces and one kills for TCCS (1-1).

Bradford 3, Sheffield 0

Sheffield fell to 0-2 with a 10-25, 10-25, 20-25 loss to visiting Bradford.

Sheffield’s junior varsity team did pull out a win, 25-27, 25-14, 15-9. Morgan Hoffman had 13 service points and Rachel Lemay eight in the J.V. win.
