Fall Festival at Lander UM

A fall festival will be held beginning at 2 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 8, at Lander United Methodist Church. This will be a kick-off for Sunday school, youth group and Wonder Kids. The public is invited to celebrate with games, hay rides and refreshments.

No dinner planned

The outreach dinners at St. Francis Episcopal Church in Youngsville have been canceled until further notice.

AOC on the move

On Wednesday, Sept. 4, the Allegheny Outdoor Club (AOC) will ride bikes on the Bayfront Bike Trail in Erie. Participants will meet at 9 a.m. at the trailhead near the tennis courts at Penn State Behrend then ride to the Tom Ridge Center. This will be a shuttle ride. Before returning to the Behrend starting point participants will have a late lunch at Joe Root’s Restaurant. For more information, call Pat Spicer at 757-8331, evenings.

On Saturday, Sept. 7, the AOC will ride bikes 17 miles on the Cuyahoga Valley Towpath Trail within the Cuyahoga Valley National Park in Ohio. The ride will begin at 1 p.m. at Peninsula and end at Rockside. Once at Rockside, riders will load their bikes onto the train and return to their starting point. There is a $3 charge for the train ride. The group will then tent camp or rent cabins at nearby facilities and then do a second ride on Sunday. DAC to meet

Kanoagoa Chapter, Daughters of the American Colonists, will meet at the Warren Public Library on Thursday, Sept. 5, at 1 p.m. in the reference room to rededicate the Lillian Acomb Hunter Plaque.

Christian women to lunch

Warren Christian Women’s Connection will have a “Have Your Cake & Eat It Too” luncheon from noon to 2 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 10, at the Allegheny Community Center, 42 Clark St., Warren. The day will feature “Cake Works” by Jennifer Werth of Warren and music by guitarist Virginia Loizeaux of Fiddler Hill. Speaker will be Kathy Hopper from Broadalbin, N.Y., who will speak on “Your past does not have to determine your future.” For reservation and information about free nursery care, call 723-4098. Auxiliary to meet

The Ladies Auxiliary to VFW Post 314, Clarendon, will meet at 7 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 5, at the post home, Brown Ave., Clarendon.

Music in the Park

The final Music in the Park for the season will take place Friday. This week will feature the jazz music of Barbara Jean & Razz, featuring Pete Pepke at Soldiers & Sailors Park, Pennsylvania Ave. W. at Hickory St., Warren, Friday, Sept. 6, at 8 p.m. The series has been sponsored by Northwest Savings Bank. Polka Sunday

The Slovenian Polka Boosters will dance from 2 to 6 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 8, at the Big Trout Inn, Weedville. The Del Sinchack Band of Youngstown, Ohio, will provide music for all types of dancing. The public is invited. For information call John or Pat Moore at 837-9218.
