Dear editor:

So President Obama says that the Syria government has used chemical weapons. I wouldn’t be so skeptical if George Bush hadn’t just finished telling us a similar tale about Saddam Hussein and his weapons of mass destruction.

If the United Nations agrees international intervention in Syria is the way to go and the US wants to support that, OK. But, even then, the American people, through our congressional representatives, need to be the ones to decide if the US sends anything. One individual should not be able to make the decision to attack another nation and throw away thousands of US lives and billions of dollars. That happens in dictatorships, not democracies.
